Economy and Workforce
This working group is comprised of volunteers from around the region consisting of technical experts, researchers, and interested citizens. Their charge will be to look at the region’s assets and challenges in economy and workforce and develop priorities and implementation strategies. Their work will help answer the following questions for our region:
- How can we improve our region’s ability to maintain and attract diverse, high-quality jobs and a well-trained, prepared workforce?
- How can we improve job opportunity while minimizing public costs?
- How can we improve access between citizens and the job opportunities that are or could be available?
Meeting 1: February 22, 2012
The Economy and Workforce Working Group convened on February 22, 2012 to gather reactions to the draft of an Existing Conditions Memo which provides an overview of regional conditions. Meeting documents are listed below.

Meeting 2: June 12, 2012
The Economy and Workforce Working Group convened on June 12, 2012 to assess the impacts of challenges identified in the Livability Report Card and review initial themes and visions collected at the Forum 2 public meetings held in April. Meeting documents are listed below.
Meeting 3: August 21, 2012
The Economy and Workforce Working Group convened on August 21, 2012 to review the draft Regional Vision Statement and to assess benchmarks or indicators that will be used to measure alternative development scenarios in an upcoming round of public input. Meeting documents are listed below.
Meeting 4: October 23, 2012
The Economy and Workforce Working Group met in a joint session with the four other PlanET Working Groups on October 23, 2012. The session included a review of recent project activities and a “chip exercise” in which working group members developed maps of a variety or regional development scenarios.
